Nova Southeastern vs. Miami

So I've already paid my deposit at Miami but I just got an email from Nova Southeastern University that my award amount has been increased to include half tuition. What's interesting about Nova is that my COL would be covered as I can commute from home (though it'd be a lengthy hr commute). Both schools place nicely in South Florida and have similar employment scores on LST. My goal is to be a prosecutor in my hometown and that prosecutor's office (where I work at now) is full of Nova grads. I'm not opposed to going to Miami at sticker because of the advantage of ibr/pslf. So what do y'all think? And please, don't respond with "retake".

I swear there's been at least 2 Miami posts a day for the last week or so. Don't go to Miami at sticker.

Have you tried negotiating your Nova scholarship with Barry? Barry is the objectively right choice here. Barry > Nova.

Basic UMiami booster post: But they have an amazing alumni network! They have a stranglehold on South Florida! C'mon, Miami has the greatest weather ever!

Total COA is around $60k for Miami and around $25k for Nova per year. And yea it's definitely Nova>Barry lol. Nova is actually a very strong regional in Palm Beach and Broward County. Look at their LST

But consider global warming.
Oceans will rise.
Cities will fall.
Barry will remain.

Are you financing with debt or other means? It is financially irresponsible to pay this much for either school. You reference their LST like it is a good thing, but look how much of those scores are people working in firms 2-10 (e.g., 25% at Nova). To be fair though, I am not sure how much you can offload through IBR/PAYE. If you can shift the vast majority of the costs to taxpayers, then maybe? You may want to follow potential changes to PSLF, however, because it won't be fun to pay the full cost of a TTT degree with interest.
Also lol at debating relative prestige of Barry/Nova.

Don't go to either. Miami at sticker is not a viable option under any circumstances. Nova for free is still really bad.

In light of this:

why are you seeking out the wisdom of TLS in regards to your situation?

I doubt most people go to the t-14 because of prestige. There is no evidence that t-14 students are more prestige focused than TTT students, and my experience indicates most are less prestige focused. Most TTT students pursue law despite the odds because they associate lawyering with prestige, and an unrealistic opportunity to change the world because they are special. Most T-14 students enroll there because it gives them the best opportunity to get a good job. If you are willing to assume that practical motivations are distinct from prestige motivations then you would have difficulty arguing t-14 students are prestige whores.

Alright this is stupid. Most of you are following a model built for what I'm not looking for. I've spoken to plenty of attorneys and judges in the area and so long as I'm looking to stay in South Florida, all I'm hearing is that I should have no problem securing a decent job after graduating from either school (the job won't be big law and im not looking for big law). I think I'd rather put more stock into what they say over a bunch of internet prestige whores. I'm over the whole TLS big law or die bullshit. My activity on this forum will now decrease significantly

ask them how much they paid in tuition when they went to law school
I think Miami is a fine choice for a reasonable price i.e. not 50k+ let alone sticker -- sucks they're so stingy with $$$

TLS is one of the
least prestige-obsessed crowds I know. You hear people in real life talk about the "Harvard name" or "the rankings" all the time. People here hate USNWR and routinely tell people to take the Ruby over HYS.
The schools you're considered have submitted their time-stamped 2014 jobs report to the American Bar Association. The forms must conform to seven single-spaced pages of reporting guidelines. This data is as legit as it gets and it's freely and publicly available here:
http://employmentsummary.abaquestionnaire.org/. These forms really don't give you pause? It doesn't make you wonder if the judges and lawyers you've spoken to are a little out of touch with the disastrous legal market?

Good luck; given that you can't be dissuaded, I hope things work out for you. There's no reason to stop posting, however, and I'm actually curious to hear your thoughts on the debt once actually in school/working.

it's a meme
I really don't care about "prestige" I care about getting a job. As I said earlier, I was speaking to attorneys and judges in the area that have nothing but good things to say about Nova. I'll be attending there in the fall at a low cost and I'm damn proud of that.
