Top Law Schools

What do you guys think? In keeping my options realistic, I was comparing John Marshal Law School and Chicago-Kent Law School. Any opinions?

First, you should read the rules for posting questions like this. Include undergrad GPA and LSAT, your goals, and estimated cost of attendance for each school. If those are the "best" law schools you got into, and they didn't offer you scholarships, you can likely improve your LSAT by leaps and bounds, and save hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process.

Since I intending to practice pray for a job in Illinois, I have some anecdotes and advice you may find helpful.

While I was an 711 intern over the summer in a prosecutor's office in Illinois, I met one person in the PO's office who had racked up a quarter million in debt at John Marshall, and one person in the PD's office who had done the same. Utterly insane. Stay far, far away from John Marshall.

I don't know anyone who went to Kent, but it is outclassed by U of Chicago and Northwestern, it's tuition is a ridiculous $44,000, and it is very expensive to live in Chicago. LST estimates that a yearly cost to attend Kent would be over $60,000. You also will have to compete with Loyala, Depaul, John Marshall, and everyone else who wants to work in Chicago.

If you are going to go to law school in Illinois, and you can't get into University of Chicago, Northwestern, or even U of I in Champaign with a decent amount of money, I would recommend you attend Northern Illinois University or Southern Illinois University.

Each has a small class size, and the tuition is relatively reasonable at about $20K for NIU, and $18K for SUI. In-state tuition, obviously, I wouldn't recommend you go to any Illinois law schools from out-of-state without hefty discounts.
