Hello, I was wondering how people would assess the following LRAP programs for CU, USD, UCI, and WUSTL. I want to work PI in a government capacity, still researching, very unfamiliar with the route to DA. I believe there are distinctions on what LRAP programs will pay out on i.e., salary thresholds, specific PI capacity, etc. Any elaboration would be appreciated. If anyone has any info or experience on this please post.

You can find details of these LRAPs on their websites. All of them probably dovetail with PAYE and PSLF, government programs which limit your payments to 10% of your income and forgive all debt after 10 years of public service employment (any government or non-profit job).
I know WUSTL pays 6% of your income up to 70k, so you would only be paying 4% of your income through PAYE. The other schools probably have worse LRAPs.

However PSLF will likely not be around much longer, so you should do some serious research on that (there are a few threads here) and decide whether you want to rely on that.

Also, this thread has a lot of info on the path to becoming a DA: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 3&t=155423

out of curiosity I googled the USD LRAP and they state that
It is the hope of the committee to award up to five(s) grants of varying amounts each year.
although unfortunately last year,
For the 2012 award year (ending June 30, 2012) the LRAP Board awarded four awards at an average amount of $7,500.

Yeah, from what I gather, LRAP programs from non T-14 schools tend to be somewhat useless. I wouldn't rely on LRAP if I were you and going to one of these schools.

That has a link to the WUSTL LRAP as a PDF. (LRAP II)
Basically sign up for IBR and make less than $70K and they will give you 6% of your AGI.
