Do you have any desire to live long term in Minnesota?

Do you have any work experience? You seem like you would be a candidate for full rise at Northwestern.

I would like to land in the midwest eventually, but I'm not committed to living in Minnesota per se.
Also don't have any real work experience. Only have 3 credits this semester so I've been working 3-4 day shifts (in addition to another job) per week to stay sane. Since it's only a semi-retired attorney and myself in the office, it would probably make for a much improved personal statement/letter of rec., he's been letting me do some cool stuff.
Thanks for the quick responses.

Where else did you apply? I don't think late Dec. is late enough to have hurt you.

Minnesota's very much a regional school. If you are happy in said region(mostly MN, but a bit of WI, ND, SD, IA) than UMN is not a bad choice at full tuition

Applied to Min,GT,Duke, Mich as places amenable to myself and my SO. Columbia was just for curiosity. It was stupid not to blanket the back half of the T14. She is moving into actuary work after this year so that sort of restricts the places I can apply. Northwestern would be a good compromise and it was a mistake not applying there originally. However the cities with actuary work and T14 schools is not pretty, which makes Minnesota seem logical in that sense.

If you're fine with working in Minnesota, take the $$$ and run. Otherwise, wait and ED to Northwestern next year.
