Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker here but finally posting.
I need help narrowing my choices down or deciding to wait and retake LSAT etc.
Stats:
4.0 GPA B.S. Econ from LSU (Sh*tty school but really only choice I had at the time)
167 LSAT (First try but late test so I'd have to wait another cycle to retake)
Schools:
Tulane: Full ride plus close to home
William and Mary: 10k cost of attendance
UVA and Vandy: Waiting to hear back but not very hopeful.
Thanks for any suggestions guys.

Definitely retake the LSAT and apply on opening day next cycle. Every single person on this forum will say the same thing. Best of luck and look forward to T14 with $$ next cycle.

Don't waste that phenomenal GPA!!! If your starting point is 167 then 169 or 170 on the retake will be a full scholarship goldmine below T14 next year...never mind a potential T6 acceptance or two.

Since you have a 4.0, toss prestige concerns aside when it comes to law school admissions in general (maybe HYS care?). What principally matters for admissions purposes is that you have a tremendous GPA. I wouldn't think an admissions person is going to toss your app in the trash because you attended a no-name undergrad. (Is LSU a shit undergrad? I'm a northerner and just know that it has an excellent football team, but I don't think negatively and/or don't know a lot about other aspects.) I suppose it could be a negative for biglaw hiring, but not a whole lot, since law school prestige and grades are the main part of the equation there. Look at
http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... 5&t=226136 for a discussion of undergrad school and biglaw hiring if you're interested in attaining a biglaw job.

If you reapply in September with your current score you will get into some T14s at sticker.
Retaking and gaining even a few points will make you competitive at every T14 — many with substantial scholarship.

Your undergrad institution will probably not matter at all. You have a 4.0, that's what counts.
