What's your total COA including COL?bpc2110 wrote:NYC Biglaw is the goal. Got half ride to Fordham v. nothing at Cornell.
Would likely live off campus at Cornell, so that +sticker price. Fordham, would find an apt. with friends.Lincoln wrote:What's your total COA including COL?bpc2110 wrote:NYC Biglaw is the goal. Got half ride to Fordham v. nothing at Cornell.
Cornell grad here currently in NYC BigLaw.
Do the math. That doesn't tell us anything.bpc2110 wrote:Would likely live off campus at Cornell, so that +sticker price. Fordham, would find an apt. with friends.Lincoln wrote:What's your total COA including COL?bpc2110 wrote:NYC Biglaw is the goal. Got half ride to Fordham v. nothing at Cornell.

Ok Cornell COA would be ~208k. Fordham would be ~137. Difference of 70k.Winston1984 wrote:Do the math. First of all how did you get those numbers? Also I plan on Biglaw long term.cotiger wrote:Nice try, bucko. You are massively underestimating your loan costs. At graduation, Cornell sticker will find you $295,000 in debt. Fordham with $75k scholarship will leave you $200,000 in the hole.
The answer is neither, but if you absolutely must, it's Cornell. Just be aware that should you be lucky enough to snag that biglaw gig (which at least 1/3 of the class that wants it won't), you'll have just earned yourself the honor of paying $60,000 in debt payments every year for six years. Few last that long in biglaw.
Gotta factor in tuition increases and interest. Even if you ignore those two factors and just did Cornell's current COAx3, that comes out to ~$230k, not $208k.bpc2110 wrote:First of all how did you get those numbers?
