University of Wisconsin for Chicago legal market?

Hey guys, I got a full ride at UW and have one strong tie to Chicago. I'd like to end up working in Chicago (civil rights, non-profit, punlic interest, labor/employment/immigration, etc.) Is this a smart move? I figured although I have a lot of schools to compete with, I wouldn't have any debt, thus making it easier for me to work in a lower paying job but in a region I'd be happy with. (I didn't apply to IUIC)
Thanks!

Maybe 2% of the class works non-biglaw legal jobs in Chicago. A small fraction of that 2% probably does what you want to do.

If you have a full ride to UW, you should have close at UI. I'd honestly take a full ride at Kent or Loyola before UW just because of location.

This. Go to a Chicago school if you wanna work in Chicago.

What other options do you have?

Would UIUC be a good option to work in Chicago? Does UIUC belong to the "Chicago School"? Thank you!

Yes. UIUC is the better option compared to Loyola or Kent

ND would also be a better option than Loyola or Kent

What about Wisconsin? Would Wisconsin be as good as UIUC, if not worse, for the legal market in Chicago?

Right now, all schools not named University of Chicago or Northwestern are terrible schools for Chicago. And maybe Michigan to some extent. The Chicago legal market is hurting bad...worse than other cities.
There's almost no one getting jobs in Chicago from out of state. There's enough law schools in the city to draw from. Biglaw draws from N and C, and all the shitlaw firms draw from Loyola and Kent. UIUC is somewhere in between.
Nobody draws from NIU, John Marshall, DePaul, etc.
Wisconsin won't get you to Chicago in this economy unless you're incredibly good at networking or already have a rock solid connection.

Wisconsin wouldn't be as good as Illinois, but if you are at the top of the class, you should be able to find a good job in Chicago. Wisconsin has a decent alumni network in Chicago.
