Top Law Schools

I have been leaning towards Pepperdine for WEEKS because of its better scholarship offer, their location closer to my family where I could live and save on rent, but would it be worth the extra $10k/year + housing costs in loans (in terms of tuition - scholarship) to attend Loyola since they have an actual entertainment law concentration and is in LA proper?

Entertainment law isn't much of a thing and you probably won't get a job in it because of that.

Both schools are too expensive and have poor job prospects. Neither, retake.

the short answer is no.

pick whichever school is cheaper, being in LA (or close to LA-LA), u'll need to network to get a job (read any legal job) unless u end up in the top 15% after 1L, so u will want to keep ur debt low. Concentration doesnt mean shit.

pick whichever school is cheaper, being in LA (or close to LA-LA), u'll need to network to get a job (read any legal job) unless u end up in the top 15% after 1L, so u will want to keep ur debt low. Concentration doesnt mean shit.

Awesome thank you! I do have some minor connections in law for when I graduate, including entertainment law, but I do want to go a route with more options considering my interests might change or I may not want to work with the peeps I have lined up. Thank you!

These schools don't give you much in the way of options, unless you do exceedingly well and/or have some spectacular other qualities- great connections, URM, super hotness, etc. Given the poor placement of these schools in general you might need to have both very good grades AND some of those exceptional qualities. It's impossible to predict how well you will do in law school, especially considering your peers will be just as accomplished as you. Please don't go into 150k debt for these places (which is what you're looking at if you have to take out loans to cover the rest of your cost of attendance). There is a very high chance that that decision will quite literally ruin your life.

At the very least go to UCLA or USC for relatively cheap (no more than 100K debt total). Also, make sure you're ok with working at a small firm/local government and other similarly modest goals as that is your most likely outcome if you manage to snag some sort of legal employment.

Also, please do some research as to what entertainment law is and how likely it is for you to get the job you envision getting.

I have a friend who got his JD from Pepperdine. Now he is shugging elbows with hollywood stars and earning millions. If he can do it, you can do it too..
