Also, I may just write ~20 posts about how great all of your spreadsheets are, since I need them to qualify for the USWNR 25 contest. I'm afraid to enter the lounge.

Am I doing this wrong, or does adding scholarship information add to the CoA? Not a huge deal, just need to enter the scholarships as negatives.

Re: Law School COA Calculator and Comparison Spreadsheet
I dig it. My only comment would be that the Stafford interest rates are low. If they were set right now, it'd be at 6.3%. Not going to get down to 5.4% any time soon. Also, since GradPLUS is Stafford+1%, you could link those two.
Thanks for this!

Yes the income items should be entered as negative numbers.

I figured it out, it just gave me a brief panic attack when the resulting CoA had skyrocketed. Good work on this.lawschool22 wrote:Yes the income items should be entered as negative numbers.

Hoping this will make it easy for people to post correct COA in this forum. We may want to post the link to this in the stickied thread. It will prevent people from doing tuition x 3 for total COA

Point of clarification, just to make sure I understand the math:
The reason why total repayment isn't just the COA for each year added up is because you accrue interest on the loans you take out while still in school?

How are Stafford interest rates determined? Sorry if this is a dumb question.cotiger wrote:I dig it. My only comment would be that the Stafford interest rates are low. I didn't know that about GradPLUS. So they would be 7.3% at the moment? And they now fluctuate w/ the 10 year t-note as well?cotiger wrote:I dig it. Re: Law School COA Calculator and Comparison Spreadsheet
Okay, next question. What you would assume as far as appreciation on the rate? I don't really see it decreasing in the current environment, but I'm not sure what to factor in. Right now I have it set to appreciate 5% YOY. Obviously if we knew for sure we would be bond traders and not future lawyers, but your thoughts are always welcome.cotiger wrote:Yep.lawschool22 wrote:I didn't know that about GradPLUS. Is it based on the average yield for the year?cotiger wrote:Yield on 10 year treasuries plus 3.6%ohpobrecito wrote:How are Stafford interest rates determined?
