I don't care about what the GPA/LSAT range is. The only thing that matters to me is employment statistics. UCLA and other non-T14 schools do not rival Cornell/Northwestern in this statistic and so no, I would not choose somewhere else outside the T14. Actually, lower GPA/LSAT ranges are a positive for applicants. More scholarships for lower numbers.

the T14 distinction is based on job prospects, not uswnr.

whether to attend a school like ucla over cornell should depend on personal factors, not admission stats.

UCLA and Vanderbilt had higher LSAT medians that Cornell for quite some time, but this has not resulted in the schools changing places for job placement purposes.

Cornell's median was 168 two years ago, not last year, and it's 167 again this year. So Cornell dropped one point in 2 years. Meanwhile NYU dropped 2 points in two years. Not that it matters because:

This was right after Cornell had an unexplained 50% spike in applications the year before.

So, we can all easily imagine that fewer desirable applicants overall means that the lower the rank of the school, the less likely it is for that school to recruit successfully more desirable applicants. I'm wondering if there is evidence that alumni networks will in any way help schools like Cornell and NU to mitigate any negative effects. For instance, many ppl recognize that Hastings has gone downhill, but hiring partners may still grace Hastings grads with jobs, due to their connection to a once great school. Another factor: many practicing attorneys are not so hyper aware as we are, and they are quick to say to me, "Why don't you apply to (TTT)?" Whether or not firms and other OCI organizations are planning to change their ways is suspect at this point. As far as I know, OCI at NU and Cornell hasn't changed much beyond the observable effects of the recession, and Idk if we should expect it to change based on falling/stagnant demand for new grads.

Also, the US News rankings of the T14 match the rankings for the T14's undergraduate institution rankings. The lay prestige has created a feedback loop that informs students as well as employers. The result: a clearly delineated "T14" of immediately recognizable school names. This system is entrenched. Berkeley, Stanford, also have peculiar numbers for admits for their rankings historically.

Cornell Biglaw+Fedclerk = 64%
Berkeley Biglaw+Fedclerk = 61%
NU Biglaw+Fedclerk = 55%

Do you already have a job waiting for you? Why would you do AJD?
