Top Law Schools

What work is there in Environmental Law. Is it all in the public sector? How is environmental law profitable? Would most companies hire attorneys in this field?

I am attending TJSL and they have a sports law ranking in the top 25. But, how many jobs are there in sports law?

Also, are there any jobs in tax law in the private sector? I have a criminal record and I am not confident in my ability to find work for a government agency.

Most large firms have at least a small environment practice. There's a lot of environmental regulatory work out there. For example:

I would like to point out that this was a clever variation on the traditional troll. This troll first posted a seemingly legitimate question, and then went back and edited his post to add the troll-worthy content.

No, I switched the school I was planning on attending. TJSL offered me a better deal and I decided to go there.

Is sports law less practical than environmental law? What about tax law? I have an accounting degree so I am interested.

Why don't you just split 2L summer with an entertainment law firm and an environmental law firm then you can decide which one you want to work for after you graduate?

That was CWSL which stated that the scholarship must be repaid if i transfer and that the scholarship would be lost if i placed in the bottom half ofthe class.

Coming out of TJSL, you should anticipate that your opportunities will be either working at small firms or going solo, in both cases serving small businesses or individuals. Specialization is good, but don't specialize in something where your only clients must be large businesses, non-profits, or government entities. If you can't make a go of it on your own or under an existing solo, then don't specialize in it. So, I would rule out environmental, for sure. Unless you have some idea of how to get clients in sports law, I would rule that out, too. Tax law could be good, but you have USD there with a good LL.M. program, so you have to figure out how you are going to compete with those students and grads. Otherwise, you may want to look into criminal law, immigration, or family law, since those are all small-firm and solo friendly areas. If you want to make a bunch of money, think about Elder Law or med mal.
