Anything I should know about Michigan State School of Law?

157 LSAT
3.7 GPA
I am from NC and want to attend UNC or Wake, Campbell is my backup. I recently received a recruiting phone call from someone at MSU offering a high amount of potential financial aid (paying for law school myself). I never applied or showed any interest in attending before now. So my question is basically, how is MSU school of law? I've read up on the history (detroit school of law is what it used to be called). Is it a good law school? Does it have national recognition (I am not sure how the prospect of living in michigan for the rest of my life sounds)? Any knowledge you wise TLS gurus can bestow upon me is helpful.
Thanks

1. No. Its the 3rd best school in a depressing state.
2. No. MSU only has national recognition with regard to college basketball.

Moving across the country to attend a TT in a state you have no ties in is always a bad idea.

Yes. You should know it sucks. Michigan State as a university has national recognition. It's law program, however, does not.

You will be unemployed, unless you finish top 5-10%.

Also: are you a URM? If so, you will be accepted into several T50's with money. The higher your retake, the higher your odds at getting into a T25 with significant money.

39.2% employment score. That's pretty much all you need to know.

If you are going to attend a lower ranked school (and unless you retake the LSAT you will be), never ever ever go to a school that's located somewhere you don't want to live. You'll be lucky to find a job locally from Michigan state, but if you don't want to be in Detroit, go somewhere else. UNC would be a much better choice.

Unless you cured cancer or ended a war, any time a law school calls you up unsolicited it should be a huge red flag. Common sense.

They publish a scholarship chart, which I give them HUGE props for. I wish every school did that. Listen to everyone else on here, but check out this chart if you havent already: http://www.law.msu.edu/admissions/Scholarships-2014.pdf

I unsubscribed from their emails yet continued to receive them--I had to mark as spam. They're persistent; I'll give them that.

Actually surprised its number 3, who is number 2? Wayne State? Or some private school I'm totally overlooking?

Also, the University of Michigan is technically located in the state of Michigan but I'm not sure that it should count as a Michigan law school. Clarence Thomas agrees with me :)

OP- a 10-12 jump on the LSAT would give you a legitimate shot at Duke. Please, please, please retake.

Yeah. For the classes of '11/'12, MSU placed 44/42% of grads in lt ft jdr jobs. Wayne placed 51/55%.

To echo the others, please retake. If you put some effort into studying (check the stickies in the LSAT forum for advice), you could be going to Duke.
