"northwesTTTern" was definitely a joke. NU is an excellent, well regarded school.
the anti-california is srs bsns. This place is going to shit. The only nice place on the west coast is Texas.

Do you want PI or BigLaw?
Also, those secondary journals should not be a consideration.

You have a funny definition of "coast." Houston, for example, is like 300 miles closer to New York City than it is to San Francisco. But I think ICWUDT.Dr. Dre wrote:BigZuck wrote:

Lol. Berkeley is a powerhouse as far as anything post undergrad is concerned. HYPS TREADING WATER to stay competitive with B and you compare it versus Cornell in that manner? Even Cornell Engineering can't touch Berk engineering, bro.Dr. Dre wrote:Berkeley is TTT compared to Cornell.

TLS/Dre tend to be very East Coast-centric and I think that's where the weird bias comes from.sinfiery wrote:Lol. Berkeley is a powerhouse as far as anything post undergrad is concerned. Yeah, and as someone from Texas I guess what I say is the unbiased truth so here me out Dre and cease your foolish attacks on UCB. It's a losing battle.

Re: Cornell vs Berkeley
Also no hit on Cornell, but the "ivy" label is just hype and mirages outside of certain circles at harvard yale princeton undergrad. You must realize students at hyp dont even consider cornell and dartmouth to be ivy league. They're just "off in the woods". The attitude is different. Ever been to a princeton v penn game? Their taunt call is "State School! State School!". Columbia affiliates more with oxbridge and nyu than its new england neighbors. While I recognize some of this is grounded in my observstions and stereotypes, bottom line is The prestige associated with HYP (and even P is sometimes ignores in the Yh rivalry) doesnt translate to any kind of berkeley v cornell distinction, especially outside UG.sinfiery wrote:Lol. The amount of money gained from the surplus will not be enough to pay back the debt California has procured over the years.
Also, look at the people who are in charge of where that money will go:
LOL.
Because Democrats hold supermajorities in both houses of the state legislature, not to mention a recent legal shift allowing the passage of a budget with a simple majority, the California GOP has been almost entirely shut out of the process.
And have you been keeping up with Brown's genius idea of building a $24 billion dollar canal?

Re: Cornell vs Berkeley
Do you know why Texas is doing well financially? It's all oil man. California is about a decade ahead of every other state in alternative energy, and when subsidies for those areas grow, and environmental consequences for driller sand polluters increase, as they will gradually, who is better positioned to succeed in the future? Your CA hate is just uninformed trolltalk and childspeak, breh.
California has pretty consistently been ahead of other states in terms of technology (energy and otherwise). There is short-term benefit to making a fuckton of money off of natural resources that you won't be able to sustain, but California has never followed that model and when the shift comes--and it will--they will once again be miles ahead of other states. It's just the way it goes. Real easy to LOL during a decade down-period, but when you take a step back and realize the most successful companies in the world are in CA, the majority of all startups in the country are in CA, etc. it puts it in a better perspective.
ETA: This isn't to derail the thread. Just wanted the OP to know that there is a big other side to the "CA is going to shit" argument, which is pretty dumb to begin with if you just look at employment numbers anyway. Dre likes to troll around talkin' bout things he doesn't know.

Re: Cornell vs Berkeley
You're defense of California is too futuristic.
My hate comes from the shit that's going on now.
So what if great companies are located in cali, that doesn't make california a better place — it only makes it more like a third world country (e.i., bigger gap between the rich and poor)

Say bro, Texas isn't all oil. Maybe part of Houston's economy is energy based but DFW, Austin, and San Antonio are basically oil free economies. Texas has legit infrastructure. It's economy is legit. It's a good state.

So I'm guessing you hate NYC and would thus advise against NYU and Columbia, since you could make the same argument for that city? Lol okay.

Why are people endorsing Cornell or Berkeley at sticker? This shit is like 300k, isn't it? Even Biglaw can't really pay that debt off-- or am I missing something? So far Zuck's 'retake' is the only one I've seen and the only thing that seems to work with the rest of TLS wisdom. Does OP have significant savings and why is retake not the best option? OPs LSAT is 167 iirc.
