I have a full tuition scholarship to Iowa and recently got accepted off the waitlist to Minnesota. Their offer was $15000 a year, but I am trying to negotiate at this time. The stipulations are the same. The big difference is where I want to go versus how much debt I want.

Yes, good point. Can you answer this question for us? It's a question you have to figure out. The only reason to take UMN here over Iowa is if you really didn't want to work in Iowa and really want to work in the twin cities. Otherwise thats way too much debt to take on for that degree.

Oddly, the few lawyers I know in Iowa through my stepdad all went to Minnesota. But that's kind of the opposite of OP's scenario, if I'm reading it right.

Minnesota is marginally more prestigious (as a law school, though perhaps not overall) in the region, but both have decent LST numbers. You won't be barred from either state with a degree from either school, certainly.

Can you estimate total CoA/loans for each? I presume even with a full tuition scholarship at UofI you'll have to take out some CoL loans, and Iowa City can be more expensive than you'd expect if you don't know the lay of the land.

You said the stips are the same but what are they? If you have a chance of losing your scholarship, I'd pick UMN.

the only stips UMN places on its scholarships are very manageable. I think only 1 person lost their scholarship at UMN last year out of a class of several hundred.

I don't know what that implies for Iowa tho
