georgetown law scholarship and deferral
Hi,
I have been offered scholarship money from Georgetown Law Center.
It's almost half of the tution, so to me, it's quite a lot.
I wasn't expecting to receive merit scholarship and was planning to defer for a year to take some time offto do other things.
As you guys probably know, deferring means I have to apply for scholarship next year again.
I am wondering if you guys know people who decided to defer a year and still received scholarship money next year. (roughly the same amount)
If it is highly likely that I cannot get this money next year, I should just go to GULC this fall.
Thanks!!

What are your other options? Georgetown tends to be stingy with scholly, and if you got into a better school with the same money I would go there, unless you need to be in DC.

what is your GPA/LSAT and how many times have you taken? what are these "other things" and how valuable are they to you? these are the primary determining factors here with reapplying. we have no idea how to advise you without this information.ruflakstp wrote:Hi,

A half tuition scholarship to GULC is a decent option if you have reasonable fixed goals & you've maxed out your LSAT.

"People who deferred" is already a pretty small subset of applicants.
That said, I got money from NU after deferring, so count one anecdotal data point.

By deferring you're locked into going to that school next year, so it seems like you'd have no leverage over them to extract a scholarship. But apparently it's still possible to get some $$$ if rinkrat pulled it off.
