I posted in the thread previously about UCLA vs. UPenn. I really appreciate your feedback!

1. What are your other options?
2. Stats/LSAT?
3. Ties to LA/Chicago?

Lol theres a thread (and it's a poll too) asking the exact same thing. Titles are almost exactly the same

If you're gunning for NYC biglaw, then no. If you're only looking at other markets, then yes. If you're looking for public service, then yes.

I'm waiting for a decision from Northwestern. I have professional ties in Los Angeles and $ from UCLA (considering re-taking the LSAT in June for $$ at UCLA).

Although it's not entirely insane because of PENN's big law stats, it's really close to it because PENN is one of the most expensive schools, period. I'd look for other options like retaking, reapplying, etc..., because Berkeley is a much better option for Cali, and if I were in your shoes, I'd rather not leave Cali, especially since your girl has a job out there.

So for the sake of your overall decision, I'd say, yes, it is insane.

Edit: to add content to my post I think there is a very small set of circumstances that might justify Penn at sticker or close, but I don't think you fit them.

Insane? Nah. Is it a good decision? IMO taking out >$200k in debt for law school is never a good decision (except maybe Yale, but even then...).

Yes. I wouldn't pay sticker at any school.

No, but you better be comfortable with PA/NYC biglaw. It would be insane if your relative options were much better. Relative to working a minimum wage job, it is not an insane decision.

As I said on your other thread, Penn at sticker is defensible, but barely. You really have to be willing to gun for biglaw and stick with it for years. Still, its a great school and it will give you options.

Moreover though, weren't you considering a retake on your other thread?

You have a 3.9. I'd make sure you exhaust all alternatives before you make this decision (yes, that means the R-word).
