Hi guys, I am a K-JD applicant with a 3.8 and a 171 (3 LSATS). Because I took the December LSAT I applied late in the game and I think this has probably hurt my chances. I have been admitted to GULC with a small need based grant and waitlisted up and down the T-14. I think that I am possibly under preforming my numbers but it's also possible that law schools don't want to admit a 22 year old with no work experience. Am I better off reapplying early next cycle, riding all the waitlists, or going to GULC?

If it matters I would like to end up in DC.

I voted you ride the wait lists, because why not.

But if they don't offer you attractive coa, reapply is my opinion.

Edit: also gulc has been stingy on schollies this cycle, according to the thread. Maybe they'll pony up more next cycle.

Ride the waitlists with the intent to reapply. You should be in at CCN and at least half off tuition at the lower T13.

Definitely reapply if you don't get into any more T14s. With your stats, I'm not sure why GULC is the only one that's accepted you. 171 is above median for bottom half of the T14 and your GPA is probably somewhere around median.

Reapply next cycle. Also have someone look at your app and PS between now and then. Even for late in the cycle, you should be getting better results than you are.

I doubt the lack of work experience is having much of an effect (except at Northwestern), but it can't hurt to go have a job for a year anyway.

Can't hurt to stay on the waitlists anyway, but I wouldn't go unless you're getting a half ride from a lower T14. If you tight up your app and apply early next cycle, you should get at least that.

As everyone else has said, ride out the waitlists, but be prepared to reapply, as you should be doing better than this. Look to find a decent job once you graduate (don't tell them you might bail for law school in August - even if the odds are low, this will scare them off) to make your resume better, and have your PS and letters ready to go to apply really early next cycle, and unless there's something bad on your record, you should have much better results.

Very similar numbers here, you are under-performing and should reapply without a doubt then profit.

If you were interested in NU, you could ED and get the nice 150k or just apply all over and watch the cash flow in.

Reapply. You definitely underperformed. If you want to end up in DC, then getting a year of experience under your belt can't hurt you for the future.

This being said, ride the WLs and grab a CCN off the WL if they give you scholarship $$. Don't just take the first T14 at sticker that comes your way.

With your numbers you can hit nyu and below with good chance at cls/chi and decent $ at most of the T14 -- as everyone else has said. Dont retake and risk a 4th score, your 171 should do fine. Also try to pad your resume; your lack of WE didnt hurt you as a k-jd, but lack of WE a year out could hurt you. Its gaps not just lack that make a negative impact

Take a year off, and get some WE. I took a year off, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I feel like I really grew as a person, and I'm going into law school much better prepared than I would have been otherwise.

You are underperforming. You need to have someone look over any essays you submitted and reapply.
