Cornell($20,000) vs. Georgetown(Sticker) Now with a poll

Hello guys, would truly appreciate any insights.

Cornell: total of $20,000 scholarship.
Georgetown: sticker.

My background and interests:
-Asian American.
-Not very certain at the moment, but want to work in BigLaw for a couple of years, but would eventually want to move into public interest or int'l organizations.
-If that doesn't work out, I wouldn't mind working in Asia offices, ex. Hong kong, Singapore, etc.

From information I have gathered in the forum,

Cornell pros:
-small class
-good employment rate
-less competition
-more collegial
-less distraction

cons: -location(nothing much going on as compared to D.C.)
- not the best law school in the region.

Georgetown pros:
-Good location
-large alumni network
-good to network
-being the best law school in the region.
-many opportunities to get involved in events, organizations, internships, ect.

cons:
-degree mill.
-poor employment rate

Any other things to add?
I am leaning toward Georgetown, given its good location and the possibilities of exposure to different experiences.
But the fact that classes are too large and its poor big law placement make me think twice about it.
Wuddaya guys think?
Is it a good choice to choose georgetown over cornell?
Also, does Georgetown ever match scholarship from other schools?

Cornell, no question.

Is that 20k a year or total? Doesn't matter, Cornell.

All the pros you listed for Georgetown are pros because they lead to a job. Statistics say they don't relative to Cornell. Go to Cornell or retake and reapply unless you want to work in DC as a starbucks barista more than a biglaw associate in NYC

If this was the other way around it might be a tough choice, but as is Cornell or retake for sure.

Not even a question.

CORNELL.

However, if you prefer Georgetown, you're going to have to get them to at least match the Cornell scholarship. Also, if you wanna work in HK/Singapore, I can tell your from personal experience that Cornell's name holds more weight.

Georgetown pros:
-Good location
-large alumni network
-good to network
-being the best law school in the region.
-many opportunities to get involved in events, organizations, internships, ect.
Let me fix this for you:

Georgetown pros:
-Good location (true)
-large alumni network (many of which are unemployed)
-good to network (can the unemployed actually help you?)
-being the best law school in the region. (huh, no, that would be UVa)
-many opportunities to get involved in events, organizations, internships, ect. (true)

Make a poll. I predict the results will be Cornell, at least 9:1.

Retake and reapply.

Cornell is still waaaaay too expensive if you only got $20k total in scholarship.

you need to work on how you present information. I see 20k, assume it's scholarship. Then I see "sticker" which would be COA. So is 20k total scholarship or total COA? Now I'm not sure.

I would assume its 20k scholarship, but yes, the information is presented in an inconsistent format

Cornell.

Even without the scholarship, the answer would still be Cornell.

Still wouldn't be. Cornell is easily worth $20K more than GULC.

Sorry for the confusion guys, 20k is scholarship money I got from Cornell. And I didn't get any money from GT so I just wrote sticker.

If you were paying sticker at Cornell and had a $20k scholarship at Gtown, THEN it would be a tossup. It would probably still be cheaper at Cornell though; COL in DC is a bitch compared to Ithaca.

Whoever voted GULC in your poll is a troll who wants your Cornell money to be reallocated.

I am ignoring the retake argument though, which is credited.

OP, for the record, employment-wise Cornell is peers with MVPBND. Georgetown is peers with UCLA, UT, Vandy, and UMinn, except Gtown doesn't have its own area to own in placement.

Georgetown seems like it would be cool, being in DC and all, but it just can't compete with Cornell. Especially for biglaw.

What you should do: retake and reapply.

Ignoring that, go to Cornell. This choice isn't even close.

Put in your deposit for Cornell. Then I would retake and see how you do. If you do worse, just go to Cornell, if you do better, then withdraw deposit and enter the cycle again. Each year the applicants get worse and worse (as far as the trend is going so far), so you'll have a better chance.

Thank you very very much for all the insights and advices guys, I truly appreciate them.
It's just take a retake isn't an option for me as I already took the LSAT three times...

I guess I will put in my deposit for Cornell, and wait for the schools that I got waitlisted..

Any thoughts on how the waitlist game will turn out this year with the decreasing applicants?

Thanks again guys!

I would say, in general, any time you list "poor employment rate" as a con for the school giving you less money, you probably should choose the other school.
