Pepperdine vs. Boston College

I have 90k at Pepperdine with a top 50% stip and would be paying full price at BC.

I'll be taking on no debt as I'm very lucky to have my parents footing the bill.

Interested in Entertainment Law but I'm pretty open as to what area I'd like to practice in, but enjoying the next three years is very important to me. Looking to eventually end up in California.

Any input is most appreciated!! Thanks!

Definitely don't go to Pepperdine, even if you can get that stip removed.

If that's where you're looking to end up, BC isn't going to help you much either. Do you have any other options?

If your parents will be footing the bill, retake and get into UCLA/USC or Berkeley.

If you are looking to end up in California, then Pepperdine is probably the best choice of those two schools. Despite what some on here will tell you, it is possible to go to Pepperdine and then go on to have a very successful career. Also, it's tough to find a better location to attend law school than Malibu.

It's possible to have a successful career from every single law school in this country. Special snowflakes do exist.

No one here will dispute this. What they will dispute, is it being anywhere near likely to achieve this outcome. Less than half of Pepperdine graduates go on to full time jobs as lawyers. But I guess if OP is just a rich kid whose parents will fund a three year vacation, YOLO, MALIBU BABY.

Malibu is beautiful but people underestimate how boring it is there on a day to day basis, especially for young people who want to do young people things (drink, have sex). If you live on campus you even have to sign something saying you won't do these things.

Pretty scenery though. And somewhat closeish to fun stuff in LA.

My friend has a grad degree from Pepperdine and lived in the grad student housing on campus. He had to sign an honor code thing that sounds similar to what they have at BYU where he agreed to not have extramarital sex or drink alcohol in the on campus housing.

Wow, I thought they had just the tiniest bit of a religious influence in their school but it seems to go a bit further. Oh well.

BC is not a bad choice, but Pepperdine is ranked #3.

Not what law professors or law school marketing materials think entertainment law is. What do entertainment lawyers do all day and are there any jobs for you in it?

Good luck with that! I'm sure you'll become a bigtime Hollywood agent from Pepperdine rofl.

That's why I'm thinking Pepperdine might be more up my alley.

I visited Boston a couple weeks ago and wasn't too thrilled by BC or BU. Definitely not the experience I'm looking for, but I can't help but try and be reasonable by looking for the best option.

REALLY hoping to get off one of the 5 waitlists I'm on... keep your fingers crossed for me!

Pepperdine will give you many opportunities in entertainment laws. I know many Pepperdine law people working for hollywood big shots. Many biglaws hire from Pepperdin for their entertainment law practice.

Retake and reapply. Boost that LSAT by 5 points and you'll be looking at T14 schools or USC/UCLA.
