1: Yes.
2: The answer is still the same as in your other thread. The schools are too expensive for the prices you have. You should retake and reapply, especially since you underperformed.
3. Go to UF over UM if you refuse to retake.

Thanks for your response I really do appreciate all input. You would take UF over BC?

I think UF seems to be the better choice, especially because you have ties with Florida. The risk/reward ration with BC is just too high. Being in the top 10% there is great, but incredibly unlikely. With the debt you would take on at UF, a high paying job is not necessary to service your debt.
Also, I understand you like UM, but UF is objectively better and cheaper. Good luck.

UM's employment numbers actually topped UF's this year (LST numbers) in spite of the fact that UM has a lot more students to place. UF still has better Big Law and clerkship numbers (albeit not by much) and a stronger reputation throughout the state. However if SoFlo is your goal and I assume you'd prefer Dade County over Naples, then I'd only take UF if it was cheaper.

Last I checked, BC was a regional school. Florida firms are going to recruit the state schools and the T14 + Vandy. There will be significantly fewer at BC. If Miami is your cheapest option, that might make sense. Are there stips on your scholarship though?

Top 10% at BC will get you a V10 firm. You won't get that from Florida or UM. You won't even get a vault firm from UF or UM.

You should research legal markets because if you want biglaw, Florida isn't really a bigalw market. There are very few biglaw firms with offices in Florida that hire summer associates.

To clarify I am asking a hypothetical to hear informed perspectives about the upside of my options for ls. I am not making any assumptions and trust me, I am fully aware of the downside.

You're considering attending a regional school that's a) not in a region where you have the most significant ties and b) is in a region that's far away from the region where you want to practice long term. You're considering going to a regional school (BC) when you want to work in Florida. Which is silly.

You're also posing asinine hypotheticals where you, as a 0L, posit yourself as a top 10% student. This is also silly. And lulzy.

Which is why kalvano said as much on both accounts.

The problem isn't that you're asking about potential upside. The problem is that that upside is contingent upon something that you can't possibly begin to count on.

The problem is also that you're vastly overvaluing school rankings here.

If you live in Florida and want to work in Florida, then going outside of Florida to go to school (unless it's to a top, top school) is a terrible move. Employers in Florida will likely consider it a huge negative, and employers in Boston are going to question why you chose to go to school in Boston.

But really, any hypothetical that relies on being top 10% is flawed from the beginning. When evaluating schools, just assume you will be in the bottom 25% and go from there.

I think it boils down to, if you want a better chance at big law, don't go to any Florida school. That being said, if you want to practice in Florida, know that the big law market is limited and therefore go to the school that gives you the best job prospects for the cheapest price.
