NYU (63k), Northwestern (120k), Chicago (75k), or Harvard? Forum

I wanted to work in public sector law and graduate with preferably as little debt as possible. Geographical preferences are CA or NY. All of these schools are great but how should I interpret the difference in ranking between let's say Chicago and Northwestern? How would that slight gap in ranking affect my career as a lawyer, if at all? I have heard that if you want to get into government law you should go to HYS, is that true or exaggeration?

If you are 1000% sure you are going to do public sector work, take Harvard.

If you aren't, take Northwestern. A law school for near free is opens many options. But Harvard has really good PI placement, and their LRAP will make debt not an issue.

I'd assume NYU and Chi are going to place similarly into PI (I have no idea about NU). NYU has more institutional support, but that doesn't mean employers are going to view it any differently from Chi.

Free law school means you won't have a lot of debt that would force you get a high paying job just to not starve.

I doubt PI orgs make any huge distinction between NYU/UofC/NW.
