Turning down an offer of admission

Hi,
Possibly a stupid question but I was hoping to find some advice. Once I've decided on a school, what is the official procedure for notifying other schools to which I have been admitted that I will not be attending. Should I send a phone call, e-mail, or handwritten note? Is the procedure different for a school at which I was named a dean's scholar (full tuition)?

Thanks. I just want to be as polite as I can about this, so I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right before I do it.

Dear TTT,

I appreciate you offering me the opportunity to enroll in your school, but I decline. Please withdraw my application.

Thank you,

A short and courteous email will do.

+1 to Romo. You can also tell them in a polite way what schools you were admitted to and where you are matriculating. Some good admissions offices use this for benchmarking and data-analysis.
