Iowa vs. Wisconsin

Hi All... I'm torn between the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin

I've been offered full tuition at Iowa and significant money from Wisconsin, coupled with in-state, which would put my tuition at under $5,000 a year. I grew up and Wisconsin and would like to work there. I have an interest in public law (which is strong at Iowa), but I like the clinics program at Wisconsin better. Iowa City's housing costs is less than Madison.

I've toured both schools and really loved them both.

Also, here's more info if you'd like. LSAT: 166 (2nd time I took it) GPA: 3.8 WE: 2 years (TFA)

Thanks for the help!

Any chance you could get another point or two on a retake?

I think Wisconsin is the better option given your ties and the low cost.

I think your best option is UW. I also had to decide between Iowa and UW (granted I did not have scholarship offers). I choose WI because I ultimately wanted to practice in WI. It seems that UW and Marquette grads are given strong preference in WI. Additionally, if you go to UW you will not have to take the bar which can save a lot of bar prep expenses ect. It might also be worth pushing UW to give you a full scholarship. It cannot hurt!

If you have any questions about UW feel free to contact me.

I would go to Wisconsin since you want to practice there.

You wouldn't have to take the WI bar if you go to Wisco.

This, plus not having to take WI bar, makes WI win.

Though employment stats aren't awesome, this would be a (comparatively) low risk venture.
