Top Law Schools

Trying to weigh my options here. I got got 15,000/year from Notre Dame. 12,000/year from Emory. 26,000/year from Alabama. 30,000/year from Villanova and Richmond. 41,000/year from Brooklyn. Finally, a full ride from Arizona (not even sure why I applied there, but whatever.) Got into Fordham and Temple with small scholarships.

I am already 3 years out of undergrad (did a teaching/masters program), so I would rather not retake. Just looking for advice. Is ND worth that price tag? Same goes for Emory.

yeah probably should have mentioned that. Ideally the DC-Boston corridor, although I am not locked into that.

As an aside, I have the opportunity to inherit a small practice in SW CT. However, I do not want to place all my eggs in that basket. Would rather have that as one option rather than the only option.

Are you taking out loans for the whole cost of attendance? Some of it? None of it?

yeah scholarships for the whole cost of attendance. At ND I may have an chance to live rent free, which would factor into the COA.

Did you apply to BU or BC if you want to work Boston-DC? How about GW? All of these schools are regional, so while they can get you back to the east coast, it'd be better to pick BU/BC, Fordham, or GW. Since these are all peers and you got a small scholarship to Fordham, you could try haggling for more scholarship money.

Edit* Also, you should calculate your CoA for each school to give people a better idea of your situation. What are your numbers? I know you said you didn't want to retake, but if you are a reverse splitter, that is the only logical choice.

166. 3.4 UG, 3.8 Grad (I know UG GPA is what is used).

Didn't apply to BC/BU/GW. Didn't think my numbers warranted it and I couldn't see myself at any of those schools. I did the COA for all the schools. Got a spreadsheet and everything.

wut? You typed scholarships, did you mean loans? If so, I wouldn't go to any of them. Bama, Richmond and Arizona don't meak sense if you want to work in the NE corridor. Villanova, Temple and Brooklyn aren't worth taking on the loans for in light of their poor placement at this time. ND, Emory and Fordham come the closest. If you have to choose, go with ND in light of the bigger scholarship and free rent, but try like hell to get more money out of them. Good luck.

I think you need a more compelling reason than "would rather not" to justify not retaking the LSAT and shooting for better schools with better employment prospects in the markets where you would like to work. As it stands right now, I think the only winning move is not to go.

Perhaps yeah. Although I have a fall back in place. Again, I am trying to broaden my options but I have employment at a small firm in CT (Fairfield county if it makes any difference) if I so choose to take it. Good to think about though. Thanks.

If you think your LSAT score has plateaued, I'd personally go with ND. See if you can squeeze some more $ out of them.
