Tulane (90k/3.0 stip) vs Miami (81k/3.2 stip)

What do you think? Tulane or Miami? Heard the stip is pretty difficult to keep at Miami while Tulane's 3.0 would mean you have to stay in the top 70% or so which seems very feasible.

How debt averse are you? I would be careful with the stipulations and would lean towards Tulane if its easier to keep the scholarship there.

From the information that you have provided, it's Tulane hands down. Less debt on its face, a higher chance of keeping your scholarship, and better job prospects in general.
Objectively, Tulane on its face. At 90K, it's a reasonable decision.

The stips are reversed on the survey. Anyway, it matters what you want to practice, where you want to work etc. I am facing a similar decision with Miami vs. in state at MD, or full price George Mason. I am also waiting on apps to CA schools, hopefully scholarships too.

I disagree...I think the answer is neither (although Tulane>Miami in this situation). Even with a 90K scholarship, Tulane is still going to cost about 110-130K when you include living expenses, not to mention interest. Unless OP has some special circumstance, like wealthy parents who will foot the bill or savings to subsidize COL, a less than 60% shot at a job (a figure that includes the dread school-funded positions) is not worth over 100K. I was surprised to see that LSU placed 80% of the c/o 2011. If OP wants to stay in LA, it seems like LSU w a big scholarship would be better than Tulane. Best is probably retake. At the very least, OP, play these schools off each other and try to get more $$$.

Best option is to retake in June.
Between the options in your OP, Tulane >>> Miami [assuming you are ok with the idea of practicing in Louisiana long term]. If you lose your scholly after 1L, you should drop out.

I apologize..the survey should say Tulane with the 3.0 stip and Miami with 3.2

Due to bad job prospects, neither.

Retake or negotiate to get rid of the stips. But really, retake.

Pretty sure he's saying 90k scholarship, not total COA. If that's the case, then we're talking like 150k for the degree. Which is far from reasonable.

With a $90k scholarship, tuition would be about ~$45K total. I would wager that $15K/year is about what someone should pay for a non-T14 school.
That being said, Tulane, like most other law schools, offers $20k/year for living expenses. If the OP takes out the max for living along with the $45k, (s)he would be looking at over $100k worth of debt. Tulane, like 97% (literally) of the other law schools, isn't worth that much. If the OP could get the total COA lower, Tulane may be worth it.
I must have been on something when I posted earlier. I wouldn't pay $90k for Georgetown. That being said, the OP may be one of those people that -has- to go to law school this cycle. If that is the case and the OP has these two as its primary options, then Tulane over Miami. However, no one -has- to go to law school this cycle.

You're essentially looking at a
56% chance of landing a good job vs. a
54% chance. Unless you want your chances at employment to be akin to a coin toss, follow everyone's advice and retake the LSAT. 5 to 10 points higher can make a pretty significant difference.

Both are very expensive options.
