Still in the application process but so far have gotten into the following schools

- SCU Law (15k/yr, can live at home)
-LMU (18k/yr)
-U of A (not sure about $ yet)
-UC Hastings (not sure about $ yet)
-USF (20k/yr)
-George Mason Law (not sure about $yet)
-American (7.5k/yr)
-USD (20k/yr)
-Chicago Kent (23/yr)

I want to practice in the silicon valley at a midsize firm either doing soft IP of litigation.
Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Not much experience.. I would have to do soft IP (copyrights or trademarks)... I'm open to other types of practice as well.

What are the stips for these schollies? I'm guessing the USF and SCU schollies have harsh stips on them.

The stips are top 25% of class at scu/lmu/usd/usf and no stips at chicago kent

Well, unfortunately you are looking at biglaw hiring for IP then. The midlaw firms that do IP usually want a hard science degree or engineering background. A retake seems to be in order, unless you want to do criminal law or small law.

None of these schools come even close to lining up with your goals. I'm assuming your LSAT is holding you back from the schools that would line up with your goals so you should retake the LSAT.

your goals while noble are either greatly handicapped or impossible from these schools.

Yep, this.

None of these schools is likely to get you to your goals. Go play around on Law School Transparency's website and look at your job prospects. Atrocious, and not worth the debt.

Also, is this some new TLS/xoxo meme I'm not aware of? If so, I do like it.

According to forum seach, he's the only on that says that.

Retake. Kent is really the only one that gave you a decent package even worth considering, but you will have close to no chance to come back to CA with a degree from Kent barring strong connection (NOT ties, CONNECTIONS).

I agree with your conclusion to retake, but 23k/year from Chicago-Kent is hardly a package worth considering. That's still well over 100k in total COA.

romothesavior, concurring in the judgment.

I agree, please retake.

Firms won't hire IP associates who can only do soft IP. You should retake.

Well they will, as long as they could get biglaw independent of their IP requirement. It's like sports law or international law- law students are lined up around the block to represent Google or Facebook and none of them actually have any credentials to do that sort of work, so it's just a regular biglaw hiring process.

Schools don't want the best lawyer, they want the most preftigious lawyer.

Yep. Soft IP in Silicon Valley is *incredibly difficult* (even for students at top schools).

Most of the schools you have listed can't even get half of their graduation class into *any* legal job. 1 in 3 American grads are working in full time legal jobs.

Retake and/or manage expectations
