BC vs Emory

Assuming I will have zero debt from either, which should I choose? I really want BigLaw and do not have a living preference between Boston and Atlanta; they are more or less the same for me. I am leaning towards Emory because I am a GA resident, grew up in GA, my immediate family all lives here, and I have established networking connections with Emory alums in ATL.

I guess what I am getting at is: Would my ties in ATL outweigh the better NLJ placement of BC? I know both are far from guaranteed, just wanted other opinions.

Zero debt because of scholarships or because your parents have a lot of money? Don't waste your parents' money on BC or Emory at sticker. BC is definitely better, and you could still get Atlanta with ties, but don't go at sticker.

I'm not sure about scholarships yet from either, but I am anticipating it'll be a mixture of a little money and a lot of help from my parents. BC was a huge reach for me (3.7 160) and I'm definitely jynxing myself by taking that as a sign I'll get into Emory.

My most appealing choices aside from my BC acceptance are: in-state price for GA State, 90k at Loyola LA 3.2 stip, 25k no stip Chi Kent, Depaul, Loyola. I still have Emory, BU, and NYU (lol) pending, waitlisted at GW. Rejected by Fordham. So you can see why paying near sticker at BC is looking appealing lol.

I can see why waiting a year and retaking would look appealing.

Retake, don't waste your 3.7, get a school to sponsor a retake.

There are a bunch of threads floating around on the status of the ATL legal market... you should check them out. Might inform your decision.

Big law from either is unlikely. Both seem like a bad investment for your parents at the price. I guess if you have no geographic pref just use NLJ 250 and LST data and pick whichever is best.

In comparing BC and Emory with regard to chances of getting into a large firm, this may be useful: http://www.law.com/jsp/nlj/PubArticleNL ... 2543436520

BC ranks 18th, Emory 26th.

Thanks for the help guys, this is definitely an issue I will need to more thoroughly research. I guess when I really think about it, I would rather live in Atlanta than Boston.

So, would rather have Atlanta, in-state resident, parent's money...why is UGA not on the list?
