And the award for Highest Paid Law School Dean goes to....

This Guy:

--ImageRemoved--

This is John F. O'Brien, who earns a modest $867,000 per year. And which school is paying this "reasonable" salary? Surely it must be Yale, or Stanford or Harvard? Right? Because the only way that amount of money would even approach the realm of an appropriate salary for a law school administrator would be if the school he was running were top notch?

Sadly, this is not the case. Dean O'Brien has been at the helm of one of the most notorious Fourth Tier "Law Schools" for the last 25 years; the New England School of Law - Boston. The Board of Trustees counters criticism of O'Brien's unbelievable salary by pointing to "the percentage of graduates who pass the bar exam and the number of full-time faculty have risen significantly, O’Brien’s work on national legal issues has raised the school’s profile." The Board goes on to say: "Our board has not a shred of doubt that Dean O’Brien is the catalyst, that once-in-a-lifetime ‘game-changer’ who makes our program exponentially better than anyone else could make it.” So I guess what we can take from this statement is that NESL-Boston would be an even bigger dump (possibly not even ABA accredited) if O'Brien were not running the show.

This is truly absurd: Read the full article here:

Truly awful what has taken place at this school, and others like it. Obviously this guy is the beneficiary of an open-door admissions policy. "Constructive Open Admissions," is what they call it, I believe.

I think I saw somewhere that their LSAT median has dropped 2 points in each of the last two years, to its current 149. The median for part-timers is even lower, and there are a total of 450 1Ls at this school, in Boston - is there a more over-saturated city?

It will be interesting to see where LSAT medians and enrollments end up after what appears to be a bloodbath of a cycle.

To be fair, aren't private school deans not included unless they volunteer the info? Some T1 schools might pass him.

On the other hand, he is making approximately 817,000 more than I would pay him if I ran that school.

I would guess he isn't anywhere near the highest paid. I just pulled NYU at random and according to their tax filings Revesz's total compensation was over $1M.
Harvard, Yale and Stanford I couldn't find 990 forms for. Columbia's dean didn't make the highest compensated employees list, but all of those made several million.
Fordham 480,000

Berkeley's dean looks like a STEAL at $307,000.

Fucking late round draft pick over here.

I'm going to ask you since you have a Celtics jersey in your profile. Hopefully you are from the area.

I think to myself where the hell is this school and I have no idea. Where is it in the city?

This shyster is lucky we don't live in the days when people form mobs with torches and pitchforks over getting conned like this. In the 1800s, you'd get run out of town for shit like this.
