Which school would you choose given the listed COA. I want to get into corporate law, ideally in Chicago.

Chicago. Since that isn't listed Northwestern. If not then ND (its always worth applying to the previous two if you have not done so, they will make it much more likely to land biglaw).

Numbers, OP?

Chicago market is easiest from HYS, Chi and NorthWest.

Is this including cost of living? South Bend is ridiculously cheap. At any rate, ND is TCR b/c UMN is basically only good for Minn and Fordham is only good for NYC

I'm assuming you have applied to UChi, Northwestern and UIUC, right?

I agree with J that ND is the best option you have listed in the poll, but it's not a fantastic option, given your career aspirations. I'd be hesitant to tell you that you should absolutely choose that over any other school, especially if you can get into NW or UChi.

Also, what are the stipulations on the ND scholarship? That could make a difference.

Fortunately, no stips. 66k good academic standing. I applied to NW, but didn't bother with UChi with 3.4 168. Do you think I should still throw an app at them?

Do you guys think UIUC would give me a better chance at landing a Chicago firm than ND?

ND places 20% into Biglaw and only 33.7% of the class goes into private practice, so it is a pretty solid option. 10% of their grads end up in Illinois, and I don't see why a ND grad would take a job there unless it was in Chicago specifically.

Illinois places 13.7% into Biglaw but half of their grads stay in Illinois. Also, this school is going to plummet in the rankings soon. In just one year, their 50 percentile LSAT/GPA went from 167/3.8 to 163/3.7.

I'd definitely take ND.

absolutely ND because it's better for Chi and better for biglaw in general, but retake for a 170 and ED NU is TCR if you REALLY want biglaw.

Are the numbers 3 year totals or 1 year?

Current 3L at ND:

ND w/ 22K is the best option you have, but I would retake, hope for a 170 while getting some WE, and ED NU. If not you can always go to ND next year.

Slightly offended that you think we are TTT enough to have stips on our scholarships haha.

Yeah, this. If that's COA per year then they're all questionable options. ND would make the most sense, but I'm not going at that price.

OP said his scholarship to NDLS was 22K...so that figure is pretty high for 1 year COA at NDLS. Tuition would be 23K and cost of living in South Bend should be no more than 12K. Total COA should be around 100K at NDLS.

35 x 3 is 105k, plus interest, plus tuition increases, and possibly costs in the summer if hes unpaid. Could be 120-130k when he graduates. Plus whatever debt he's already got (if any).

I'm not saying its crazy, but its on the high end of what I think a Midwest T20 is worth.

I didn't say it was a good investment haha.

I've heard UMN doesn't do that well outside of Minnesota so you may want to reconsider UMN if your goal is Chicago biglaw.
