Scholarship Negotiation

Post by knznick » Wed Jan 02, 2013 10:42 pm

What are the best techniques for scholarship negotiation? I have not received all of my offers yet (most have come in), but I plan to negotiate when they come in. Is it possible to negotiate stipulations as well? For example, if a scholarship at X school requires you to stay within the top 25% of your class, has anybody negotiated the stipulation back to, say 40%? I have a few really great scholarship offers that require stringent stipulations and would like to try to soften the stipulations. Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks!

This is an excellent resource for many of your questions: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 22&t=79373

I don't recall if it addresses stipulations in the linked thread, but I do believe that with certain schools in some instances, yes, it is possible to negotiate away (or down) stipulations - common consensus is, however, that stipulations outside of good academic standings might be a red flag as far as whether the school is worth attending.
