You can probably get into WashU with a 167 now and get fat scholly dollas.

Mizzou is a decent option for MO residents imo as they actually place fairly well for their ranking and offer very cheap in-state tuition. But out of state tuition is pretty expensive and they rarely give any scholarship money. You might get like 50k out of SLU with your current numbers but it's still a pretty expensive school and doesn't place as well as Mizzou.

Either way though, do you have any personal ties to MO? If not, your opportunities may be limited regardless of where you go to school.

If you really want to work in a particular state post-jd, I highly recommend getting a job and moving there for a couple of years before law school. There is a couple of reasons for this. First, you will be able to answer the "why do you want to be here?" questions you will get if you are not from there, and more importantly will be able to demonstrate that you want to stick around (Missouri and Kansas are not too terribly different from Arkansas, sorry to burst your bubble). Secondly, you will have residency for tuition purposes for state schools. If you really want to work in a particular state you should seriously consider the flagship state school, even if it is lower ranked than some fancy private school in the market. Why? Because the private school undoubtedly draws students from out of state, who will return to their home states. Employers in the market know this, and will take the kid at the local school that's going to stick around. See the employment scores from LST for WUSTL and Mizzou.

Now I know what you're thinking: it's hard to get a job in state X. That may well be true, but remember that the difficulty of getting any job in the market is a good gauge for how hard it will be to get a legal job in that market.

When it comes to Mizzou/KU you need to pick the one in the state you want to work in. You'll receive a bunch of shit if you go to KU and try to get a job in Missouri (especially in Missouri government if that's your interest). When we hired for government positions, if you went to KU you were automatically not receiving an interview. I also know of one prominent STL law firms that doesn't take kindly to Jayhawks.

With that said, SLU is good for STL jobs, but doesn't place well outside of St. Louis. WUSTL is obviously the best school in that general area.

If you want more of a Missouri/Kansas vicinity without the hate that comes from picking a side, you could go to UMKC they place well in Kansas City (which is Missouri) and throughout Kansas.

And, if you don't mind going a bit further north, there's Iowa and Drake, both of which can put you back in Missouri, and I'm sure they place into Kansas at about the same rate.
