I can assure you that if you ED and get in where you ED, you will likely receive nothing in aid from them (Majority of schools do this, not all). I think if you want biglaw and you wanna ED you should ED to NYU since that's your best chance.

How much debt will you be in if you have to pay sticker minus whatever the GI Bill gives you?

If it's reasonable, I agree ED NYU.

I felt that OP would be a good contender for NYU RD? I'm not confident in that assessment however.

Is this assuming that 1) there's a good chance you'll get an SA, which will take a significant chunk out of those amounts, and 2) you'll have to rent and eat food during your three years?

Another thing you need to take into consideration as a veteran on the GI Bill is that most schools have a first come first serve policy for their yellow ribbon program. So if you RD and wind up getting in off the wait list late in the game you could miss out on the yellow ribbon money.

In your situation I would just pick one of the 3 and ED, you probably have more money to lose by going RD than you do going ED and all but guaranteed yellow ribbon.

I am not sure if I have ever encouraged anybody to ED, but in your case I think it seems really reasonable to ED to Chicago or Columbia or NYU if you think you would especially like it there. I would try to find out how vets with numbers similar to you have performed at Harvard, Stanford, and Yale. If I recall correctly from my cycle some of the non-URMs with the lowest numbers who got into Harvard (I think?) were vets. But you should have great options going forward. Vet status is quite a strong soft no? I would ED CLS or Chi if you really want either of those two but I think you are very likely in RD at NYU on down. You will prob get some money at the lower T-14s so that's something to consider as far as not EDing goes.

You'll get into NYU RD, so there's no point in RDing there. You have an ok shot at Columbia, and Columbia is known to not give the biggest bump to EDs. Chicago is the biggest reach of the bunch because they like the higher GPAs, so I would consider EDing there if you have your heart set on Chicago. Other than that, I say RD to all three and see what happens. Worst case scenario is that you go to NYU. Chances are you will get a small amount of merit aid anyway.
