COL for Miami (UMiami) v. Gainesville (UF)

Is there an appreciable difference in COL for Miami (Coral Gables, or wherever Miami law students live) versus Gainesville?

You COL is exactly what you make it out to be. It doesn't matter what the school says; if you live in the right place with enough roommates, it will be cheap.

Didn't you get into Emory? Why on Earth are you discussing UM vs UF COL?
And yes UM is significantly higher in terms of COL

Gainesville has to be one of the cheapest places in Florida to live. I remember visiting a high school friend there while he attended UF; his apartment was comparable to mine in quality but cost about $450 less.

LawSchoolNumbers indicates that Gainesville is nearly $8,000 cheaper, which I can confirm. I'm a 1L at UF this year and I'm currently paying $620 (water included) for an 850 sq ft 2/1 less than a mile from the school in a pretty nice area. To get a comparable place in Coral Gables would easily exceed $1500, and the area is not nice whatsoever. I don't currently have a roommate but doing so would drop my rent to $310 and my expenses to ~$60 (dividing my $50 internet and $70 electric bill). I am a bit biased because I prefer a true college town like Gainesville to a big city like Miami, but I couldn't be happier with my living situation and I am most likely going to reduce the amount of housing loans I take next semester.

I live in Gainesville. If you go to the rent section of Gainesville's Craigslist you will see an accurate list of standard of living and cost since most living is for college students. Gainesville is cheap. I live decently far off campus because it's closer to my work - but I pay $920 base rent for a 2/2, but I went for high quality.
Last year I paid $365 all inclusive for a one room in a 4/4 closer to campus, but not close to down town. Also was a crappier apartment, but not bad at all.
