Do you want the St. Louis area? Go to WUSTL.Fabulist wrote:I was just admitted off the waitlist at NU, and have filled out my financial aid applications and am waiting to hear back. Wash U has given me 18k a year, so I'm not really sure what to do if NU comes back at sticker.
Should I immediately let Wash U know and ask for more money? Or should I wait until I hear from NU on any potential aid? My numbers are 170, 2.8, 4 years work experience.

Do you want anywhere else, like Chi or NYC? Go to NU.
And remember even with 18K/year, you're still looking at 150K+ in loans, in my opinion that 60K difference is worth the advantages NU gives you.
Either a Northwestern homer or someone with both of the following: a) access to employment and salary data and b) a high school math educationFlips88 wrote:Yet another Northwestern homer who also thinks Northwestern is worth $54k more than WUSTL
Do you have connections to St. Louis? If not, I would recommend you go NU.Fabulist wrote:I was just admitted off the waitlist at NU, and have filled out my financial aid applications and am waiting to hear back. With 28k scholly (and if you want to end up in St. Louis/mid-west for sure) then it is getting closer, but even then I'd probably take NU. Job prospects at NU are exponentially better than at WUSTL and NU places nationally.CanadianWolf wrote: WashUStL might offer you $28,000 per year scholarship for your 170/2.8.
And someone who asked Romo this exact same question before I made my decision to withdraw from WUSTL and ride out the wait list at NU. He told me to take WUSTL over NU only if I could negotiate the cost to no more than 100K in loans, and even then it was risky. But yes, I am biased and freely admit that.Flips88 wrote:Yet another Northwestern homer who also thinks Northwestern is worth $54k more than WUSTL
