That awkward moment where you ask your husband's friend where his mom went to law school and they say Cooley's weekend program...

That is a moment where an extensive TLS background really hurts you. No way to control your facial expression..

Wow, that's way better than my response to a friend's brother going to a TTTT school. "Is he retarded? I've met him, he seems smarter than that."

Reply: "Some amazing lawyers came from there!"
Resist urge to add: "in the 80s!"

In the current state of the legal profession Cooley has a bad rep. Most of it is fair and warranted.
But a decade or two or three ago (idk how long Cooley's been around) a working professional from the midwest who wanted to attend law school to gain further educational experience or try and change careers may have done well to attend Cooley for that purpose. I'm much older than most new law students/grads, and I know plenty of people that went to current TTTT to change careers. I know someone that went to Cooley in the mid-90's, graduated, passed the IL bar, and works at a mid-sized firm in Chicago and also teaches a law course at a community college. Between the two jobs she makes a great salary.
So for your husband's friend's mom to have attended part time is not exactly like some bright-eyed college undergrad inquiring about whether he should go to Cooley. It's like laughing at someone who went to a Secretarial school or Cosmetology school.
Once upon a time, a law degree, no matter where it came from used to be worth a little something. Unfortunately, that's not the case but I don't think it makes her law degree all that laughable. Not extremely impressive, but so what.
