I know family law isnt the most popular or well payed area in the legal profession. However, I have an interest in it and was wondering what school's I should be looking into. Any advice.?

If you want to practice family law, you should try to go to go to the best school in the region you want to practice and limit your debt. Limiting your debt is really more important than prestige since you will not be finding a family law gig through OCI and so 150K debt doesn't make too much sense for a person who will be targeting small firms from the get-go.
You shouldn't really be targeting schools who "specialize in family law." any decent law school will have classes and clinics on family law.

Debt is the main thing you should be looking at.

Thanks, that is kinda what I was thinking too, but now I am starting to have doubts of being accepted anywhere based off the responses to an unrelated thread.

Law school doesn't teach you jack shit and specialty programs don't translate to jobs.

Your thread about getting suspended in high school? You're kidding right? That will have no effect on your LS chances whatsoever

1-10) Cheapest school you can get into
11) A school in a major metro area (assuming it is cheap). Specialty programs won't matter a bit, specialty rankings are based off things that matter to law professors, not students looking for jobs. What will matter is getting outside internships and part-time work during the school year so you basically graduate with two years of exposure to the field. Obviously, this is a lot easier in a major metro area that has a lot of small firms and non-profits you can just email blast looking for part-time work.

I'm also going into family law, and planning to do both an JD and PhD in Counseling Psych. My PhD program options are looking less and less realistic, so I'm probably going to be doing law school first. I'm glad to know it won't matter as much which school I go to; that really opens up my possibilities a lot in Atlanta. GSU is so competitive, and with a sucky LSAC GPA, I was really stressing about what I'd do if I didn't get accepted there. Now I feel like I have options.
Thank you, OP, for the thread and all of you for the replies.

Im still going to be trying my hardest to get into the best school I can, and I would recommend you do the same! Notre Dame is my dream school, but If I cant get in I will be looking at the highest rank school I can get in for the cheapest price!

Go somewhere cheap and intern in
A Family Law Firm. Apply to every family law firm in the general region, and cross your fingers.
