How much did you study for LSAT?buster12 wrote:coa would be roughly 18k a year. fortunately for me my parents are fronting 50%. 161/3.4 (not fantastic so I think going to the best school (richmond) is the smart choice)
Yeah don't go to catholic. They are known for section stacking. And I thought Iowa had TTT stips.tfleming09 wrote:buster12 wrote:but i feel confident that i could make that
So does everyone little breh. Get them to drop that awful stip or don't go there. What's your total COA at Richmond and where do you want to work? What's your LSAT/GPA?
Yep. Shit, I was worried about making my 50% stip. Take this anecdote FWIW, I know of at least one person at my LS on full scholarship who had a 2.3 first semester. Success in UG and a high LSAT doesn't mean automatic success in LS.tfleming09 wrote:So does everyone little breh.buster12 wrote:but i feel confident that i could make that
Not for any school outside T20.but is it worth racking up about $45k in debt?
If you're getting a parental gift, ask them to put the same money towards a downpayment on a home in an area you want to work in. Do not go to law school if these are your options.if you HADto make this decision, which avenue would you take?
Because I'd feel bad to have my parents bankroll an education that leaves me a 50/50 shot at actual long term employment.buster12 wrote:also, i don't really see the relevance in whether it is a scholarship to richmond or gift from family --- that being said, what do you guys think.
I wouldn't go to Catholic, ever.buster12 wrote:UPDATE: after an email to catholic they dropped the stipulation. My scholarship will be guaranteed. I need to let them know by Tuesday. What do you guys think?

edit for helpful answer: OP I know nothing of these schools really, but if you would be happy at Catholic and its free, then go for it (coming from someone who once again, knows nothing of these schools) worse case scenario is you go to school for free and cant get a job and just have the debt from cost of living. Though if you really want to be a lawyer working at a big firm or something, I would consider perhaps trying the LSAT again and going to a better placing school (assuming catholic and Richmond do not place well, though once again, coming from someone who knows nothing of these schools)Br3v wrote:How much did you study for LSAT?buster12 wrote:coa would be roughly 18k a year. fortunately for me my parents are fronting 50%. 161/3.4 (not fantastic so I think going to the best school (richmond) is the smart choice)
If you're really anxious to go, it could be worse. I know two people that went to Catholic. One clerks for a superior court in DC, the other in unemployed.buster12 wrote:UPDATE: after an email to catholic they dropped the stipulation. My scholarship will be guaranteed. Not necessarily biglaw or bust, but if you're going to law school I assume you're full time legal employment or bust. Only half of Catholic grads get full time legal employment.abc12345675 wrote:Catholic is a full ride with no stip? Go there. People telling you not to are biglaw or bust T14ers. Free legal education is nothing to sneeze at, especially since you're not passing up a school like Cornell to head to Catholic for free..............Sign up for Catholic, enjoy the weight off your shoulders of no debt, and enjoy a crappy part of DC
lol I'm not at a T14 you dolt. I wouldn't go to Catholic because it doesn't give you a good shot at even being a lawyer.abc12345675 wrote:Catholic is a full ride with no stip? Go there. I think we need to have a TLS seminar on "opportunity costs."abc12345675 wrote:I can't believe people would advice against a free legal education from a top 100 law school. Sorry guys, I'm not on board with your advice..........OP, take the money. There is no stip at all, right? If that's the case go there and bust your butt. You'll be a lawyer
Only 50 percent of 2010 grads got full time bar passage required jobs.abc12345675 wrote:I can't believe people would advice against a free legal education from a top 100 law school.
