Wisconsin or Berkeley?

Hi all, down to Berkeley or Wisconsin. Here's the financial breakdown-at Wisconsin I'd pay $38,000 at Berkeley $78,000. I loved Berkeley (the atmosphere, the students, and the town were all fantastic) but I probably won't get any financial assistance (other than loans). I'd eventually like to practice in the Midwest, but I wouldn't mind leaving for school and practicing for a 5-10 years. So, is it worth going to Berkeley and graduating with that much debt? I have no idea what kind of law I want to go into and so I'd like to keep my options open as much as possible.

Berkeley, you'll have much better options. Are those debt figures total COA?

Doesn't seem like they are expecting financial aid, so that's yearly. edit: i'm a fail
edit edit: vindication!

I gather you're already located in the Midwest?

yes, total COA.
Is "total" here per year, or for all three years?

Either way, unless you want to practice in Wisconsin for your whole life, go to Berkeley.

Yea, Berkeley still wins. That debt is scary though.

Like I said, unless you want to practice in Wisconsin for the rest of your life, Berkeley wins.

Wait....I wouldn't go to either.

$240,000 in debt is a MORTGAGE....You would have to work for the government for 10 years or get BigLaw for law school to be worth it.

You need to start negotiating for scholarship. If you were accepted at Cali, then surely, Wisconsin can give you money. How do you not have a full ride some-where?

Wisconsin is notoriously stingy with scholarships.
