Catholic vs American

I am looking to move to Washington DC and I was accepted by Catholic University and American University. I received an $18K/year scholarship (renewal of top 25%) to Catholic and no scholarhsip funds to American. I was wondering if anyne had any thoughts of the calibre of each school in the DC area and is the extra tuition costs at American are worth its higher ranking. I am looking at studying Corporate/Securities law in the DC area. Thanks

Both are terrible options, especially at that price. Are you independently wealthy or parents footing the tab?

I consider myself both. We do have freedom of religion in this country.

+1, would lol again.
OP, I would honestly rather cut off a toe than go ~200k in debt for either one of these schools. I don't know what your current debt situation is, but assuming you have some undergraduate debt, you could be close to a
quarter of a million dollars in debt from American by the time you graduate. And what do you get in return?
Absolutely atrocious job prospects. c/o 2010 had a 15% shot at a firm of 50+.

The only American grad I know now works full-time at American Eagle, after spending over a year looking for any legal employment she could find in the DC area. She got decent grades (above median, I think) and would interview very well, if she could get any interviews. She did a couple of unpaid internships, but couldn't find a single law-related job that would pay her.
She says most of the people she knows who graduated from American regret their decision to attend. Catholic is even worse.
The problem is that many of the best graduates from the t14 schools want to work in DC, and after that there are too many graduates of DC-area schools ranked above American for the jobs that remain.

Neither of these schools are going to get you there. You may be able to STUDY it, but you'll almost assuredly not be able to practice this kind of law. Corporate/securities is the province of biglaw and schools that feed into biglaw.

Isn't it ironic?
