If you were able to snag scholarships at both those schools, why in the actual fuck is UNC not an option?

That is weird, bro.
Alabama with no ties is scary as it's one of the most insular states in the country (like, hardcore good ol' boy network). I've heard Minnesota is tough to break into as well, plus it's going to be really cold when you're used to NC weather.
GPA/LSAT?

The cold in Minnesota does scare me a little bit. But when I went to visit Bama they said that they had 6 straight weeks of 100+ temperatures. I'm not sure which I would hate worse. I know that I greatly prefer winter to summer here in North Carolina but then again winter here means 40s and 50s
Super splitter. Ugh.
Any other options? If it was me I'd pick Bama of the two, but neither is desirable. At least you're from the south.

I was/am in the same situation, and I decided UGA was waaaayyyy too scary at sticker, even with it being my top choice. I put my deposit at Alabama with $$$, but am not even close to 100% sure about it. After talking to 2L's at UGA, it seems like everyone outside of the top 10% or so is struggling for private practice (this was late February, and most people had nothing lined up for the summer). If you really want to go the Prosecutor/Public Defender route in Ga, those kids seem pretty happy, but private practice seems to be a rough go at it.

Hey, I'm from North Carolina and I'm currently a 1L at Alabama. I actually got a into UNC, but ended up choosing Alabama for a number of reasons...namely it was much cheaper for me even though UNC gave me a small scholarship. Anyhow, if you have any questions about Alabama I'd be glad to answer them.

Well, I think most people who put effort into the job search have managed to find something for the summer...early in the second semester most of my classmates were pretty worried about finding anything and it become a grim joke of sorts. Personally, I'm splitting my summer between a PI job (in Tuscaloosa, AL) and interning with a judge (in Birmingham, AL). I know several people who are working at firms over the summer.
As for where people are working, the vast majority of 1Ls who have jobs are staying in Alabama over the summer. That is partially a product of self-selection and the fact that pretty much 100% of the employers that interview 1Ls at OCI are from Alabama. That said, I do know of a couple of folks working in DC, Georgia, and Mississippi. There is likely some more variety but not that I know of personally - I'm aware of maybe 30 of my classmates summer plans.

I voted alabama, since you want to end up in the south.

Depends where you want to live & work after law school. William & Mary probably places the most students among the three schools in North Carolina. If unable to get back to North Carolina, do you prefer Birmingham, Mobile or Minneapolis-St. Paul ?
P.S. Did you receive a fellowship from W&M ? If not, apply & enjoy substantial savings.

Update your poll-I think W&M is a really good option now, seeing as you'd like to get back to NC. Is Wake not in the picture?

W&M has a lot of fellowships open to accepted law students. Benefits include pay & reduced tuition for a very reasonable (within ABA standards) amount of work or research. Call W&M admissions & ask about further scholarship and/or fellowship opportunities for incoming law students.

Alabama for sure. I'm from North Carolina too (starting at UGA in the fall) and the thought of living in Minnesota sounds god awful. Plus, if you do want to come back to NC after graduation, I feel like staying in the South for law school would be a good idea. Then when you factor in the food, weather, SEC football, and the distance from NC...it's no question. It also doesn't hurt that Alabama is ranked fairly well.
