Duke (72K) v. Cardozo (Full Ride)

Was all set to head to Durham but 'Dozo offered a full ride with no stipulations today. My wife's job is portable and would cover about 3/4 COL in Durham. Probably be about 2K per month short of COL in NYC. Have lived and worked in the legal world in NYC for 8 years. Not entirely sure where we want to be post law school. NYC is being considered but I think we're both leaning towards settling elsewhere, potentially the South where my wife is from (I'm from the midwest). Looking to work in a firm for 3 or so years and then hopefully transition to something a little more merciful and family oriented which makes lack of debt very enticing.

Duke gives you so much more flexibility in terms of getting a job that it's worth the extra debt.

This. Especially since part of coa is covered.

LOL at the poll and this even being a legitimate question.

Duke. I'd be surprised if anyone picked Cardozo in the poll. Duke at essentially half price is a great deal and it places well in NY and the South where it has great prestige.

Dozo usually has stipulations with their scholarships ... so that's pretty cool that you somehow dodged that. Still, ... Duke. ESPECIALLY, because you said you think you'll want to work in the south. Dozo might get you there, but Duke is a much safer bet, even with the additional investment.

The fact that Cardozo has no stips makes this not a complete no-brainer, but since you're not beholden to NYC and want to go South, Duke is the obvious answer. I don't know if anyone in the South even knows what Cardozo is. The lay people didn't even know about Georgetown when I mentioned it for undergrad.

There's like, at least 4 new threads today re: Cardozo Full Tuition No stips. Are they hard up for qualified people or something?

Whoever voted for Dozo is probably trying to get off Duke's waitlist. Go to Duke, this is not even something you should think about.
