Top Law Schools

Where would you go to school if you wanted to go for FREE and have the 3 years be worthwhile AKA get a job at the end of it that will pay more then what you would be making if you stayed in your field for 3 years. This scneario is assuming you already have a job, so you wouldn't just be spending 3 years of your life but also the oppurtunity cost of income lost those 3 years as well. Thus, you wouldn't want to take out a 200k loan on top of the 150-180k of income being missed out on.

I'm assuming only t14 schools, excluding HYS? All of these require LSAT in the 170+ range to get a full ride from what I've read on this forum, correct? Would you go to other schools not in t14? If so which ones and What kind of numbers would you feel comfortable with?

There is no way for anyone to answer this without knowing the specifics of your situation. Cooley might be worth going to for free if you have a guaranteed job waiting for you at your family firm and all you need is a JD from anywhere.

What is the point of this exercise? If you already have a job making 50-60k then I wouldn't go to law school unless you really want to be a lawyer. It's not just about making $$$

This scenario assumesy you do want to go into law because you would enjoy law more than your current field. But money is a factor that is important. That's why going for free is obviously better - more freedom in choosing a job you like and not being a debt slave!

Are they? But I'd be working for two years out of college and I have no dependants. I feel this would hurt the need part of need-based. Even though I'd essentially be jobless+moneyless in school.

LMAO no job is awaiting lawschool. Hence why I'd want to go to a school that provides a decent shot at having a job.

This thread is dumb, the opportunity costs for everyone will be different. It depends on what field you are coming from, expected raises and promotions, loss of networking, social life, etc...

OP if you made this looking for advice, we need to know more about your personal situation. A lot more.

Sounds like you need to figure out what you want in life. In the meantime, feel free to start studying for the LSAT if you decide law is what you want to do.

I wouldn't mind going to Yale for free.

A lot of this also depends on where you want to practice.

I'm in Dallas and would be happy here long-term so I would take SMU for free depending on what my other offers were, but if you aren't okay with Dallas/have ties here (not Austin, not Houston, DALLAS) that wouldn't be a good decision.
