Ask UF to match FSU, then tell FSU that UF is offering the same, etc. :D

If you own a condo near UF, then just try to get UF to match FSU's offer.

I tried that already. They have decided not to increase the award amount.

8k difference is not all that much, so just choose the school that you prefer. Stats/jobs/etc. are very comparable between the two schools.

Have you visited FSU law ? Do you want to spend another 3 years in Gainesville ?

Seems like this decision would be a matter of personal preference since the difference of $8,000 (overall or per year ?) can be made up by remaining in your condo near UF & not having to pay moving expenses. Plus, all of your Gator garb might get you into trouble in Seminole country = new wardrobe costs. :D

I have visited Fsu. Great looking school. I grew up in Tallahassee and did my undergrad at Uf. Right at this moment I have no furniture in the condo so moving expenses don't matter, but if I stay I planned on buying a brand new living room (including a large tv), dining room, bedroom and new washer and dryer. I could rent out the condo if I move to tallahasee, and if I stay at Uf I would get a roommate. I guess I better create a list of pros and cons for each school and try to attach a dollar figure to each point. I was actually supposed to be married in two months (hence the missing furniture). Because of that I lost a considerable amount of financial support and really want to restore the condo to how it looked with furniture. I just don't know if I want to move back home to where all my friends are (with my tail between my legs), or tough it out in Gainesville, where I feel a lot more on my own (where I can count on working a little harder in law school, and relying almost solely on law school for friends.) I know Tallahassee is probably going to be more "fun." I love the bars and nightlife. Gainesville not so much - I live father from bars than I would in Tallahassee. This is not an easy decision for me.

Oh and the $8k difference is total, not per year.

A quick look at law school transparency shows they have practically identical job prospects (contrary to what UF trolls will tell you). Just go where you'd be happiest.

(Sorry, didn't know where to post)

Hello, I am interested in going to either UF or FSU. I have a 3.53 gpa and am wondering what my LSAT aim should be for a nice scholarship like the ones you are getting. Also, does UF / FSU make an average of your lsat score or do they take your highest in consideration?

Thanks

Depends on if you are a URM or not. If no, 158-159 is what you're minimum is for FSU and 160-161 is your minimum for UF (assuming your GPA is the same when applying)

And they both only take your highest LSAT score. Good luck!

A 168 got me the scholarships (3.41 gpa probably wasn't great for them.) but I know people with better lsat scores that have gotten zilch from UF even with better gpas. Fsu has traditionally been a little more liberal with scholarships from what I hear. Uf is generally stingy, but it varies a lot from year to year.

I visited both schools. You liked FSU's law school? I thought it was kind of a hodgepodge of different buildings. UF was nice. Both cities suck.

I think as has been said the different in job prospects is very small. Go to the school you like the best.

Take the money at FSU. Less debt for similar opportunities.

To keep my scholarships I had to decide in April. I moved into my new apartment in tallahassee today. I would rather live in the center of town and rent out my condo in Gainesville. It's great to live on the nice side of town (~25 min from the law school) when youre with someone, but I'd rather live downtown close to everything (and across from the law school) if I'm on my own. I have a friend with a 2 year old and her husband renting out my place in gainesville now. It was just too big for me and I really don't want a random roommate.

I've only been to Fsu law 5-6 times, but isn't it only 3 different buildings? The new advocacy center, the main law school building, and the library? And they're all in a row. Maybe I missed something. Either way, it's all my front lawn from my apartment.

I'll enjoy FSU Law (the students were so much less pretentious than the other schools I looked at) and I'll definitely enjoy graduating with a positive net worth and very little (if any) debt! :D

I personally think the UF alumni network is worth 8K, as is not living in Tallahassee (even though Gainesville sucks)
