Is U MN worth 5k more than UHLC per year? I don't care where I end up. Not interested in PI, but need a solid job when I graduate.

Go to Houston.fruitoftheloom wrote:From: Kansasrad lulz wrote:Could not have picked a more random pair. Impossible to say without knowing where you are from, where you have ties, how much debt you're taking out, and what you want to do.
Ties: Houston (?) live here now - have worked here for 2 years.
Debt:
UMN - 75k is best guess (45k tuition + 30k books/ins/living)
UHLC - 60k? (44k tuition + 15k books/ins/living?)
Want to do: Best guess would be insurance defense - either coverage or tort defense. Preferably with outside counsel.
is that per year or over 3 years? the 15K looks like it's a yearly amount, but 30K in MN per year seems ridiculousfruitoftheloom wrote:From: Kansasrad lulz wrote:Could not have picked a more random pair. Not if he doesn't' want to live/practice in Houston.Bronck wrote:Ties to Houston makes UH the obvious choice.
Minneapolis is a great city- not really a college town though. Also, UMN tuition keeps rising.bartleby wrote:Is Minn in a nice college town? All I know of Minn. is from Young Adult. Houston is getting hot again. I'd probably consider U MN especially since our tuition at UH might be going up
I have yet to visit (will be at ASW), but I would think that it would be like a college town nestled in a big city Since there are 50,0000 undergrads with most living near the campus.minnbills wrote:Minneapolis is a great city- not really a college town though. In most cases, it's not really smart to relocate for a regional school that resides in a location with which you have zero ties.MTBike wrote:Not if he doesn't' want to live/practice in Houston.Bronck wrote:Ties to Houston makes UH the obvious choice.
Yeah - I knowbartleby wrote:also it is impossible to live in Houston at $5k per year. i can't believe how much money i took out to live. eating, gas, rent, all that crap. really really hard
RC fail. I'd vote Houston because it is cheaper and you have ties. Either is fine at the cost then, although I'm also skeptical of the numbers for COL. I guess that doesn't include costs for out of pocket expenses, only loans? Im confused how we're talking 5k or 10k COL per year. If you buy a 20,000 car, the fact that you pay it all in cash doesn't make it free. Obviously no loans is better, but yeah... Houston.rad lulz wrote:Those are totals bro.romothesavior wrote:Those price tags are just flat out awful.
