GULC sticker or AU for free??

this is anticipatory... being as i'm still currently trapped in limbo on the mystical special group of GULC's PWL. but, i'm bored at work, and can't stop pre-stressing about the luxury of this possible decision.
the deets:
been out of school for a few years, worked in both non-profit and private sector, def want to do PI work after i'm done with the law degree, BUT, i'm sort of paranoid about being locked into one field and one pithy salary with no alternatives in sight. maybe that is naive. or misinformed. or completely non-PI of me to say. but it's true.
i'm down to live/work in d.c. for a bit, but have and would prefer living in other parts of the northeast (ny in particular), and maybe try out different sectors for employment further down the line.
such is the draw of a beautiful name like "georgetown" and a comfortable moniker like "T14", and... not gonna lie, that glorious health club they have for law students, just steps from the capitol. *sigh.*
but boy, is that pricetag daunting.
i am/might/will be very torn about this. would love to hear people's thoughts. AU seems like an incredible PI community, with generous funding, and a supportive atmosphere. But, GULC makes me drool for (most) of the obvious reasons.
thoughts and musings are appreciated.
happy hunting.
