Re: Help Me Scare a 0L from Going TTT
TTT in LA = Southwestern?
In order to target the argument, I assume they want to stay in CA for school?

Nope, she just went for the schools that typically take her LSAT score and randomly applied. I don't think she's even aware that there's a URM category and I think she took the LSAT essentially blind.splitbrain wrote:In order to target the argument, I assume they want to stay in CA for school?
I think she can easily get 165+ and T14 should be the minimum for her. For CA, Berkeley should be reasonably attainable (if the LSAT is lower than her GPA performance) and I can't reasonably rule out Stanford given that she probably drastically underperformed on her LSAT.

Links to tls, atl, scam blogs, lst, and the letter from the aba saying how awful the market is. Just above that, explain why you are doing this, briefly. Just below explain how to correct this, briefly- and them offer to go into more detail if she wants.

You could do this and have her talk to Mtal, lol.FeelTheHeat wrote:Register her for TLS.
Maybe show her one of these articles: http://abovethelaw.com/2012/02/twelve-m ... ment-data/
and explain how her chances of paying back her loans are much better if she attends a higher ranked school
Maybe explain how California has about a bazillion new lawlyers from a bazillion schools competing for relatively few jobs and how attending a higher ranked school will increase her odds of landing one of those gigs

Re: Help Me Scare a Smart Double-URM 0L from Going TTT
This part makes me worry less for her. I know it's a shame that she could go to a much much better school, but be careful about not trying to be overbearing about it. I was in this position last year with someone chosing to attend a TTTT at sticker and it didn't end well...SehMeSerrious wrote:before she spends $250K of her parents' money
All that being said, I'll still post some stats comparing schools here later. Whether your friend chooses to use it or ignore it, it's up to them. GL to them either way.
ETA: Stats will be later because I'm at work but my spreadsheet is on my home computer

Re: Help Me Scare a Smart Double-URM 0L from Going TTT
i think if you just hit her with some statistics about the percentage of graduates who have a paying legal job from her school specifically, and then statistics from superior schools ( which still shows how shitty the legal market is), maybe direct her towards JD Underground, some "don't go to law school sites", and obviously have her read TLS, she would have a pretty a good idea of why your saying do not go to the TTT. because really no educated person would make that investment after knowing the facts

Start dating her and then she will have to listen to you since you are the man in the relationship.

Just how "bad" was her LSAT score ? As half Puerto Rican & half Mexican, she could get into some very solid law schools with a score in the low 150s. Illinois, for example, accepted several URMs with LSAT scores in the 140s & Cornell accepted several with mid-150s.

His advice isn't bad... certainly better to go to Illinois than a TTT in cali. I mean, I still think retake and reapply is the right answer, but.... if she won't, then you know, she could still do better than a TTT in LA.

No such thing as a double URM.

why do you assume this is advice? it's just a question. how low does a URM's LSAT need to be that they would seriously consider TTT/Ts?MTal wrote:moron advicePARTY wrote:what kind of advice is this?CanadianWolf wrote:Just how "bad" was her LSAT score ?
