GULC (30k) v Vandy (90k)

I am not terribly debt averse, but obviously I want to go where there lies the most value, both during and after law school. I am from DC area and have friends/ties to area. Probably want to end up working BigLaw either in DC or NY.
I know people on these forums usually say Vandy is on par with Gtown, but somehow I feel like the name Gtown itself garners more prestige and that could help in getting jobs? or not?

Incidentally, do you have ties to any other markets?

no ties to other markets
and i think those employment stats are misleading, due to a contingency of students who go to gtown for public policy and dont want biglaw. vandy it seems has higher percentage of students who are gunning for private law, with a lower percentage getting those jobs..just a thought

I'd take the money at Vandy. You can always flex your DC ties come OCI time (contrary to prevailing TLS sentiment, while ties are not necessary to break into the DC region, they definitely do help).

I'd imagine the reason you think Georgetown has more prestige is because it has high lay prestige (likely even higher in DC). However, I don't think the gap in the way firms view their graduates is as significant as the lay prestige gap. I'd take the money at Vandy.
