2. Want big law

NU - there are enough students from TX here to get firms to come, but not so many that competition seems very fierce for those positions. A lot of them also see TX as sort of a back up plan.

Instate or out of state tuition? Either way, ask to see if UT will match before making any decisions.

Unless UT matches/beats the money, I think this is a fairly easy decision...but I'm not trying to make it for myself, with emotions involved. Texas apparently has some sort of draw for its natives, incomprehensible to the rest of us.

NU easily. It can get you back to TX, but if not, you've got a MUCH better shot of at least getting biglaw in NYC/Chicago

UT is still cheaper at sticker because of in-state tuition and lower cost of living, which is why I'm having trouble. I also prefer Austin to Chicago.rinkrat19 wrote:Unless UT matches/beats the money, I think this is a fairly easy decision...but I'm not trying to make it for myself, with emotions involved. I'd be very surprised if they don't try to match some or all of the NU scholarship. When I was deciding between UVA with 20k/yr and UT at sticker (instate), UT fully matched the UVA scholarship. (So I had instate + 20k/yr.) If UT doesn't match any of NU's offer, I think NU is the better choice. If UT matches some or all, then I think it's a closer call.emkay625 wrote:UT is still cheaper at sticker because of in-state tuition and lower cost of living, which is why I'm having trouble. (For the record, I chose UT, and I'm very happy with the decision.)

Agree with everyone above: negotiate with Texas before making a decision.
At this point in time, however, I think NU is the easy choice.
