thoughts? I also want to practice in california after so i am leaning towards davis. and even though rankings are stupid, UW DID make a huge jump while davis fell back.

This is not a close question. If you want to practice in California—specifically, if you want to practice in Northern California—then you should pick UC Davis over UW. Both Davis and UW are good regional schools with similar overall reputations. The USNWR rankings should not factor into your decision at all.
