FSU(in-state) v W&L(sticker)

Would prefer to do big law/private practice. Lived in FL my whole life. Love FSU but scared of it's lack of private practice jobs upon graduation.

1) unlikely
2) FSU, since W&L is stupid expensive and you have ties to FL. If you miss the biglaw boat (see #1) at least you won't be stuck paying back $200k.

What is the total COA for each law school ? Compute the COA for each, then select FSU.

I have a family member who is a partner at a biglaw firm in NY, with offices in multiple cities in FL and VA. Does this change anything to do with my decision?

Go to the school where you get the best legal education and will incur the lowest amount of debt. Go to FSU. If your parents are helping with living expenses, you'll be looking at ~60k of debt instead of >120k.

If I wanted to do mid-big private practice, is that possible from top 50% or do I need to be in the upper percentile of grade? I realize the FL legal market is in shambles.
What kind of summer work are you guys doing?

Top 20 percent at least. "mid-big private practice" is also kind of a misnomer- you either get biglaw (160k in the big cities, 100kish regionally) or you end up in the small law/doc review slop. Some government jobs exist to, but are extremely competitive.

If you are dead-set on going to law school, go to FSU and don't think twice. Entry-level jobs are really tough to come by right now in Florida, but this is probably the case most everywhere. Don't go in banking on being in the top 20% of your class either. There are jobs out there, but it takes a bit of hustling.
